The Tongue

The tongueWhat does this mean, you might say.  The epistle of James says many things about the tongue.  It is a dangerous member of our body.  If we cannot control it, it  defiles our whole body.  We have seen how the tongue works with gossip.  It can cause such hurt for the subject and a lot of hurt for the gossiper as well.  The tongue is also used for many other ugly things.  Verbally abusing someone, and using that tongue to bring someone down.  Have you ever stop to think that your tongue is a fire from Hell.  Not a godly thing for sure if you let the devil use your tongue.  I have noticed for a long time now that cursing has become a right of passage for our young people.  Sitting in a parking lot at the grocery store as school lets out is frightening to hear the way that boys and girls throw vulgar language around as they walk by.  It hurts my heart to hear it.  I can’t say I am innocent, I at one point in life did some cursing myself.  I never said the word I consider the most vulgar and disrespectful of all words and that is the F word.  I was raised that the f word was never to be said around a lady, and a lady would never say that word.  Now, everyone says that word.  That really hurts my heart.  My dad would not allow that word to be said around his wife and family.  Once while in a restaurant a man was shouting that word and was very near our family having dinner.  My dad calmly got up and went to the man and told him he couldn’t talk like that in front of his wife and children.  The man pushed back and told my dad he could talk however he wanted and my dad knocked him out of his chair and calmly came back and we finished dinner.  That is the way it used to be.  We have gone away from clean speaking and are embracing evil speak.  Titus 3:2 Speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle shewing all meekness unto all men.  Ephesians 4:31  Let all bitterness and wrath and anger, and clamour and evil speaking, be put away from you. 1 Peter 2:1 Laying aside all malice,  and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies and all  evil  speaking’s  10  For he that will love  life,  and see good  days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile. 1Peter 1:15 But as He which hath called you is holy, so be lye holy in all manner of conversation; because it is written, be ye holy; for I am holy.  Lets pray that conviction will come to those who relish evil speak.  For their own Good.
